SCIENCE

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid naturally produced in the human colon through the fermentation of dietary fibres by the gut microbiota. It is also present in small amounts in certain foods, such as butter and fermented dairy products. In human physiology, butyrate is primarily used as an energy source by colonocytes and is widely studied as part of normal intestinal metabolism.

Butyrate triglyceride is a triglyceride composed of three butyrate molecules esterified to glycerol. It occurs naturally in small amounts in dairy fat and is used in research and food formulations as a lipid form of butyrate. Following digestion, Butyrate triglyceride is enzymatically broken down into glycerol and free butyrate.

In food science and nutrition research, butyrate can be delivered in different chemical forms, including salts, esters, and triglycerides. Each form differs in physical properties such as taste, odour, solubility, and stability. The choice of form is typically guided by formulation requirements rather than biological claims.

Tight junctions are protein complexes that connect adjacent epithelial cells in tissues such as the intestinal lining. Their primary role is to regulate the movement of water, ions, and small molecules between cells, contributing to the normal barrier function of the gut. Tight junctions are a structural feature of healthy epithelial tissue and are studied extensively in cell biology.

Short-chain fatty acids, including butyrate, are frequently used in laboratory models to study intestinal cell metabolism and gene regulation. Their role as energy substrates and signalling molecules makes them relevant tools in basic research exploring epithelial cell function under controlled conditions.

The intestinal mucus layer is a gel-like structure composed mainly of mucins, produced by specialised epithelial cells. It forms part of the physical interface between intestinal contents and the epithelial surface. The composition and regulation of mucus are active areas of gastrointestinal research.

The gastrointestinal tract hosts a diverse community of microorganisms collectively known as the microbiota. This ecosystem is influenced by multiple factors, including diet, age, environment, and host physiology. Understanding these interactions remains an active field of scientific investigation.

PRODUCT & QUALITY

TauBiotic® is formulated using a butyrate triglyceride, a lipid form in which butyrate molecules are esterified to a glycerol backbone. In nutrition and food science, triglyceride forms are used to deliver short-chain fatty acids in a fat-based matrix that is broken down during normal digestive processes.

The butyrate triglyceride is delivered in a gastro-resistant softgel using a pectin-sorbitol based enteric system (PDRCap®). This type of capsule is designed to withstand acidic gastric conditions and dissolve later in the gastrointestinal tract, a common approach in both food supplements and pharmaceutical formulations when controlled release is desired.

From a formulation perspective, lipid-based butyrate forms differ from salt-based powders in physical properties such as odour, stability, and handling. TauBiotic® is developed with a minimal formulation approach and does not rely on synthetic plasticisers to achieve gastro-resistance.

We understand questions around the presence of sorbitol in our gastro-resistant softgel capsules. The quantity used is very small and is a technical component of the capsule shell, selected to ensure stability, integrity, and targeted release through the stomach.

Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol naturally present in many foods and widely used in food and supplement formulations. While low-FODMAP diets limit certain carbohydrates, including sorbitol, the amount present in our capsule shell is minimal and unlikely to be nutritionally significant within the context of a balanced diet.

Low-FODMAP diets are commonly followed as part of a structured dietary approach that prioritises ingredient awareness and digestive tolerance. Our formulation is designed to be compatible with such dietary frameworks, providing butyrate in a controlled, gastro-resistant format without unnecessary excipients.

As always, individuals following specific dietary protocols should assess overall intake and personal tolerance as part of their broader nutritional plan.

The sorbitol used in our product is derived from either potato starch or corn starch, and in the case of corn, we can assure that it is not GMO. Our product constantly tests negative for gluten, indicating that possible allergens coming from the sorbitol we use are minimal or non-existent.

Yes, RedoxBox® follows Current Good Manufacturing Practices in Manufacturing, Packaging & Labeling Operations for Dietary Supplements. Only by adhering to GMP guidelines, we can assure the consumer ultra-pure products.

Yes. None of the products manufactured by RedoxBox® contain any materials that are derived from GMO crops.

Unfortunately, our products are no longer vegan. It was a hard decision for us. If we wanted to improve the gastro-resistance of our capsules and extend its freshness we had no other option but to rely on bovine gelatin.

The current state of the art for vegan gelatin soft gels is just not there: they are not gastro-resistant and have reported issues regarding stability, increased porosity, and degradability.

However, we remain committed and will do the transition as soon as technology for vegan softgels matures. We hope this technology leap is achieved in the shortest time possible!

RedoxBox sources raw materials that are gluten and dairy free. We manufacture in a cGMP certified facility, which practices all allergen control protocols.

Each batch of RedoxBox's finished product is specifically tested by third parties to certify that it is gluten and lactose free.

The term "organic" relates to foods that are grown following an  "integrated farming system that strives for sustainability, the enhancement of soil fertility and biological diversity whilst, with rare exceptions, prohibiting synthetic pesticides, antibiotics, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, and growth hormones". Food grown following this system conveys a perception of quality to consumers. But it actually relates to foods that are grown rather than products that are formulated.

Many of our scientifically validated raw materials are not produced organically as they are synthesized. Our quality assurance program includes rigorous testing and scrupulous processing. The objective is ultra-high purity, be it with raw materials and finished products.

Yes we do. RedoxBox® follows strict GMP guidelines to control the purity of its products and control possible contaminants, be it heavy metals or microbiological contamination. All in-house test and third-party test show absence or levels well below the trace thresholds we admit.

Bringing cutting-edge, GMP compliant, evidence-backed, research-driven, patented products to market cost more - period. Our vision is diametrically opposite to many commercial brands focused on driving up margins by using the cheapest raw materials available and presenting sometimes hundreds of references to the consumer. RedoxBox® is a boutique dietary supplement company that only carries two producta as today, with a trail of impressive developments coming soon.

At RedoxBox® we believe is better to offer a superb product rather than hundred references that offer no innovation and just compete for price in the market.
With RedoxBox® products, you get the innovation and quality you pay for.

Yes, we currently offer our products directly to consumers in the EU. We like to give consumers all possible choices. There are consumers that prefer the proximity and warmth of traditional Brick and Mortar Vitamin Shops or Health Stores, while others like the convenience of online ordering. At RedoxBox® we make sure our products can be present in all channels.

Yes indeed! Distributing outside the EU needs careful planning as your country may enforce regulations on dietary supplements or require registration procedures that may delay launching the product in your market. This is why we study each case individually. But we don't shy from new opportunities, so please fill this form to start the conversation!
